HOW CAN WE HELP YOU?
We utilize a variety of evidenced-based methods and styles to meet your needs.
COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps you understand the connection between your thoughts and feelings and how they influence your behavior. Often times we have unconscious long-held beliefs that create automatic thoughts that drive our moods, behaviors and relationships with others. Sometimes these thoughts can be disruptive and even harmful to ourselves and the people we love. CBT is a highly-effect solution for a variety of concerns including Anxiety, Depression, and caregiver burnout just to name a few.
EMDR
When a disturbing event occurs, it can get locked in the brain with the same images, sounds, thoughts, feelings and body sensations. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) seems to stimulate the information and allows the brain to process the experience. That may be what is happening in REM or dream sleep. EMDR uses various bilateral stimulation techniques to help you process the material. EMDR therapy is now one of the most efficient and effective treatments for trauma and allows you to heal from your past experiences so you can move forward with the life you want to live.
GRIEF COUNSELING
Grief takes on many different forms and can impact us beyond just the death of a loved one. As a caregiver you can experience anticipatory grief, you can grieve for a lost job or a home you had to move away from. Grief can strike again many years after the death of someone dear. It can affect you in many different ways impacting your physical, emotional, social, spiritual and cognitive health. At Connection First Counseling we don’t try to chase the grief away, instead, we understand that it’s ok when you don’t feel ok. We offer a safe, compassionate place for you to come and be fully present with your grief. We are not afraid to sit with you in your pain and help you gain the strength to take steps toward healing.
SUPPORT GROUP COUNSELING
CFC offers various support groups in the community. Coming together with other people dealing with similar setbacks and struggles can provide an amazing synergy of solutions and support. The ideas, encouragement, and validation provided from a counselor-led support group often strengthen progress made in one-to-one counseling. Combining these two therapies can boost your healing process.
ACT THERAPY AND MINDFULNESS
Mindfulness helps to increase your moment-to-moment awareness of feelings, thoughts and body sensations and surroundings in a non-judgmental way. Mindfulness uses a combination of guided imagery, breathing techniques, body scans, and meditation. It is a wonderful way to quiet the inner critic that drives most of our negative thoughts and personal critiques. It offers just enough space in your awareness to invite openness and change to appear.
